The Port of Baie-Comeau obtained its first Green Alliance certification

The Baie-Comeau Port Management Corporation (“the Port”), a Green Marine participant since 2022, obtained his first Green Marine certification, the largest voluntary environmental certification program for the maritime industry of North America.

“We have the duty and responsibility to promote the preservation of the environment and to always exceed expectations in all aspects,” says Karine Otis, President and CEO. Participating in the Green Marine program is in line with our fundamental values, because its detailed framework guides our initiatives to continually improve our environmental performance. »

David Bolduc, president of the Green Alliance, applauds this initiative. “We congratulate the Port of Baie-Comeau for its commitment to environmental protection, he said. Since joining the Green Alliance in 2022, the Port has focused on meeting the program’s certification criteria and continues to expand its efforts. »

To obtain Green Alliance certification, the Port assessed the environmental performance of
its port using key performance indicators targeting greenhouse gas emissions, underwater noise, residual materials management and relationships with communities. The certification process is rigorous and transparent, with results
independently verified every two years and the performance of each participant
published annually.
