Energy is reserved for the Hy2gen company project in Baie-Comeau, confirms François Legault. This is a major project, brought up for discussion by the mayor of Baie-Comeau, Michel Desbiens, during his meeting with the Premier of Quebec.
“I met with the mayor of Baie-Comeau, Michel Desbiens, who, as usual, is full of projects, economic projects. There is one, among others, in green hydrogen, which is very important, very interesting, a lot of jobs,” said Mr. Legault.
“We knew that the energy block had been awarded. However, I wanted to make sure that with the change in the Ministry of Economy, after Pierre Fitzgibbon left, that it was still relevant. So, we discussed the next steps in the Hy2gen file […] for the coming months,” said Mr. Desbiens.
Construction of the plant is scheduled for 2026, he continues. “I wanted to make sure that the schedule we had with the company would follow the steps a little more quickly with the Ministry of Economy and then with Hydro-Québec, among others, for the construction of the electricity line that will go to Jean-Noël-Tessier Park.”
Aquaboréal
“We are also looking at other projects in graphite, fish farming, having a kind of innovation zone as well,” continues François Legault. The mayor discussed the Aquaboréal issue in Baie-Trinité.
“Even if this is not a project for Baie-Comeau,” he said, “it remains that it will be good for Baie-Comeau. There will be developers, entrepreneurs from Baie-Comeau who could have contracts. So, it is a very important file for the Côte-Nord. We also talked about it and they too are waiting for megawatts to be allocated.”
